Baby and Child Naming
These days people are often not comfortable with a traditional christening ceremony but still wish to celebrate the arrival of a new child and announce their name to their family and friends.
A name is very special, it is generally with us for life and it makes us unique. The miracle of new life is something worth celebrating.
In our recent culture a child was traditionally brought into the protection of the church, but from antiquity new children have been asked to be blessed by the creator or the great mystery of life, however we wish to express this. So today we can still ask for blessings, good health and a long and happy life for the child. We can nominate ´special´ parents or guardian parents, who do not have legal standing but are chosen to look out for the child and take an interest in the child´s journey through life.
In Africa they say it takes a whole community to raise a child and for parents having the support of their family and friends can be invaluable especially in our fragmented and geographically challenged society!

can be very empowering.
Danu will help you devise a ceremony which is unique and reflects your beliefs and values as well as being thoughtful of your family and friends. Singing can really unite a gathering and Danu can help with this as well as compose a special melody just for your child. See the Music page for more details.
Usually Danu will meet with you several times to devise the ceremony and then on the day Danu can officiate for you or simply be there as a guide supporting you to take the lead.
House Naming/Blessing
You wish to say goodbye to your current home, dedicate your new one or rename your home or land with ceremony celebrating this new phase and purpose and resonance. Danu will visit you and help co-create a ceremony to do this.
